7. But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8. Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance,
9. and don’t think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!
10. Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Luke 3:7-15
7. So John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8. Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance, and don’t begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!
9. Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
10. So, the crowds were asking him, “What then should we do?”
11. John answered them, “The person who has two tunics must share with the person who has none, and the person who has food must do likewise.”
12. Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?”
13. He told them, “Collect no more than you are required to.”
14. Then some soldiers also asked him, “And as for us—what should we do?” He told them, “Take money from no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your pay.”
15. While the people were filled with anticipation and they all wondered whether perhaps John could be the Christ,
Mark 1:7-8
7. He proclaimed, “One more powerful than I am is coming after me; I am not worthy to bend down and untie the strap of his sandals.
8. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:11-12
11. “I baptize you with water, for repentance, but the one coming after me is more powerful than I am—I am not worthy to carry his sandals! He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
12. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clean out his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the storehouse, but the chaff he will burn up with inextinguishable fire!
Luke 3:16-18
16. John answered them all, “I baptize you with water, but one more powerful than I am is coming—I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
17. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clean out his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his storehouse, but the chaff he will burn up with inextinguishable fire.”
18. And in this way, with many other exhortations, John proclaimed good news to the people.
John 1:14-18
14. Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory—the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.
15. John testified about him and shouted out, “This one was the one about whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is greater than I am, because he existed before me.’”
16. For we have all received from his fullness one gracious gift after another.
17. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.
18. No one has ever seen God. The only one, himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.
Matthew 3:13-15
13. Then Jesus came from Galilee to John to be baptized by him in the Jordan River.
14. But John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?” 15 So Jesus replied to him, “Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John yielded to him.
Luke 3:21
21. Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. And while he was praying, the heavens opened,
Mark 1:9-11
9. Now in those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River.
10. And just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens splitting apart and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

13. He was in the wilderness 40 days, enduring temptations from Satan. He was with wild animals, and angels were ministering to his needs.
Matthew 4:3-11
3. The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”
4. But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5. Then the devil took him to the holy city, had him stand on the highest point of the temple,
6. and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you’ and ‘with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
7. Jesus said to him, “Once again it is written: ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’”
8. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur.
9. And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worship me.”
10. Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
11. Then the devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to his needs.
Luke 4:3-13
3.The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4. Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone.’”
5. Then the devil led him up to a high place and showed him in a flash all the kingdoms of the world.
6. And he said to him, “To you I will grant this whole realm—and the glory that goes along with it, for it has been relinquished to me, and I can give it to anyone I wish.
7. So then, if you will worship me, all this will be yours.”
8. Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
9. Then the devil brought him to Jerusalem, had him stand on the highest point of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
10. for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,’
11. and ‘with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
12. Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’”
13. So when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until a more opportune time.

Luke 4:14-15
14. Then Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee, and news about him spread throughout the surrounding countryside.
15. He began to teach in their synagogues and was praised by all.
Mark 1:14-15
14. Now after John was imprisoned, Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the gospel of God.
15. He said, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the gospel!”
Matthew 4:12-17
12. Now when Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, he went into Galilee.
13. While in Galilee, he moved from Nazareth to make his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14. so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled:
15. “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
16. the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.”
17. From that time Jesus began to preach this message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near!”
John 1:19-34
19. Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
20. He confessed—he did not deny but confessed—“I am not the Christ!”
21. So, they asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not!” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No!”
22. Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us so that we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
23. John said, “I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”
24. (Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.)
25. So they asked John, “Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
26. John answered them, “I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not recognize,
27. who is coming after me. I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandal!”
28. These things happened in Bethany across the Jordan River where John was baptizing.
29. On the next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
30. This is the one about whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is greater than I am, because he existed before me.’
31. I did not recognize him, but I came baptizing with water so that he could be revealed to Israel.”
32. Then John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending like a dove from heaven, and it remained on him.
33. And I did not recognize him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining—this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
34. I have both seen and testified that this man is the Chosen One of God.
John 1:35-39
35. Again the next day John was standing there with two of his disciples.
36. Gazing at Jesus as he walked by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37. When John’s two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
38. Jesus turned around and saw them following and said to them, “What do you want?” So they said to him, “Rabbi” (which is translated Teacher), “where are you staying?”
39. Jesus answered, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. Now it was about four o’clock in the afternoon.
John 1:40-42
40. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said and followed Jesus.
41. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is translated Christ).
42. Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon, the son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter).
John 1:43-51
43. On the next day Jesus wanted to set out for Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.”
44. (Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter.)
45. Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law, and the prophets also wrote about—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46. Nathanael replied, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip replied, “Come and see.”
47. Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed, “Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”
48. Nathanael asked him, “How do you know me?” Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49. Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel!”
50. Jesus said to him, “Because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”
51. He continued, “I tell all of you the solemn truth—you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.
John 2:1-11
1. Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,
2. and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
3. When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”
4 .Jesus replied, “Woman, why are you saying this to me? My time has not yet come.”
5. His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”
6. Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding 20 or 30 gallons.
7. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.
8 .Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,” and they did.
9. When the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom
10. and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the cheaper wine when the guests are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11. Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, in Cana of Galilee. In this way he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
John 2:12-13
12. After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.
13. Now the Jewish Feast of Passover was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
John 2:14-22
14. He found in the temple courts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.
15. So he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple courts, with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
16. To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not make my Father’s house a marketplace!”
17. His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will devour me.”
18. So, then the Jewish leaders responded, “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”
19. Jesus replied, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”
20. Then the Jewish leaders said to him, “This temple has been under construction for 46 years, and are you going to raise it up in three days?”
21. But Jesus was speaking about the temple of his body.
22. So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the saying that Jesus had spoken.
John 2:23-25
23. Now while Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.
24. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them because he knew all people.
25. He did not need anyone to testify about man, for he knew what was in man.
John 3:1-21
1. Now a certain man, a Pharisee named Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council,
2. came to Jesus at night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs that you do unless God is with him.”
3 .Jesus replied, “I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4. Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb and be born a second time, can he?”
5. Jesus answered, “I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must all be born from above.’
8. The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9. Nicodemus replied, “How can these things be?”
10. Jesus answered, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you don’t understand these things?
11. I tell you the solemn truth, we speak about what we know and testify about what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony.
12. If I have told you people about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I
13. No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.
14. Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15. so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
16. For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
17. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
18. The one who believes in him is not condemned. The one who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.
19. Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.
20. For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.
21. But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.
